On November 11th, 2013 I had the pleasure of defending my dissertation Not Just a Pretty (Inter) Face: A Critical Analysis of Microsoft’s ‘Ms. Dewey’ at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. My committee included:
Linda C. Smith (Chair), GSLIS, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Lisa Nakamura, Screen Arts & Cultures and American Cultures, Univeristy of Michigan
André Brock, Communication Studies, University of Michigan)
Allen Renear, GSLIS, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
After a rousing and energizing discussion, I was pleased to be passed by my committee with no revisions. Many thanks to all the people who came out to support my defense- it was wonderful to see so many friendly faces in the crowd. This has been a long journey, and it feels wonderful to be on the other side of it!
Huzzah!
